But there is, even if a small one, a risk of a chocolate cyst bursting. However, when it is encountered in the clinic it can cause significant clinical situations. Sometimes the cause of pain that appears suddenly, that is severe or sharp and that does not resemble previous pain may be the bursting of a chocolate cyst or, to put it more accurately, the tearing of its wall and the contents of the cyst flowing out.
If a chocolate cyst bursts, the contents of the cyst may spread onto the ovary where the cyst is located or onto the other organs located in the pelvic region. In this case it may cause problems such as infection, the organs sticking to one another and groin pain. If the cyst bursts, urgent intervention may be needed.
As a result of the bursting of the cyst, bleeding, a high temperature, nausea and vomiting or severe pain may be seen. A serious infection may develop in the abdomen. If you see symptoms of this kind you need to consult your doctor immediately. As a result of the tubes or the ovaries sticking to one another because of the chocolate cyst, it may cause an increase in the risk related to infertility in women. In conclusion, it may reduce the chance of becoming pregnant.
The pain begins suddenly and generally on the side where the cyst is located. As for the cause of the pain, it is not the bursting of the cyst but the blood and other substances located inside the cyst flowing into the abdominal cavity and the reaction the body gives against these. In this case the abdomen becomes extremely tender and a sharp pain may be felt even when it is touched. Generally the cysts that burst or tear are larger cysts. In small cysts, on the other hand, the rate of bursting or tearing is much lower than in large cysts. In cases of bursting or tearing, surgical intervention may be needed depending on the state of the clinical picture.
Chocolate cyst is regarded as insidious and is extremely prone to progressing. As the size of the cyst grows, the pressure on the wall increases. This in turn may cause the chocolate cyst to burst. A chocolate cyst may burst during sexual intercourse or as a result of exercise. Pressure applied during an examination may also cause the cyst to burst.
At the moment a chocolate cyst bursts, a sudden pain like a knife being stabbed in may be felt. The bleeding and pain seen because of the cyst disappear on their own some time after the bursting. The rates at which chocolate cysts burst or tear are seen to be lower than for other cysts seen in the body.

I had an operation 2 months ago; I cannot describe what pain I suffered for years, what I went through up to the day of the operation!
